Your agent
Pi
Pi can search MemIndex from inside a session. Automatic recording depends on the Pi release and the MemIndex worker it connects to.
Set up
Install Pi first. Then run:
npx memindex install --ide pi --runtime worker
Restart Pi to load the extension. It is installed in ~/.pi/agent/extensions/memindex/. If you use PI_CODING_AGENT_DIR, that folder is used instead.
Pi currently requires the local worker setup. See Install.
Search memory
Ask Pi to find earlier work. It has three tools:
mem_searchfinds matching notes and their IDs.mem_timelineshows the work around a match.mem_get_observationsreads the full notes you choose.
Check automatic recording separately
npx memindex pi status
npx memindex doctor
The status command only checks that the extension file exists. It does not check your Pi release or prove that recording works. Setup does not update Pi.
Some Pi releases support search only. Do not rely on automatic recording until you have checked it in your own Pi session.
To check, ask Pi to perform a small text task with a tool. After processing finishes, search MemIndex for that work. Start a new Pi session to check that saved context appears.
Image-only turns are not recorded by this path. Missing session details or an older worker can cause automatic recording and context to be skipped.
Remove the extension
npx memindex pi uninstall
Restart Pi after removal. See Troubleshooting if search or recording fails.
