Your agent
DeepSeek Harness
DeepSeek Harness, or DSH, can search MemIndex, save notes and receive past project context. MemIndex records new work by reading DSH's session files.
Set up
Install DSH and its package manager, pnpm, first. Then run:
npx memindex install --ide dsh --dsh-profile web --runtime worker
The default profile is web. Choose an existing profile with --dsh-profile if you use a different one.
Restart DSH. Start or restart the MemIndex worker so it loads the new session watch:
npx memindex restart
DSH currently requires the local worker setup. See Install.
Use it
The plugin adds past project context when DSH creates an agent. It provides these tools:
mem_searchfinds notes.mem_timelineshows nearby work.mem_get_observationsreads selected notes in full.mem_savesaves a note you choose.mem_contextgets saved context for projects you name.
The worker watches session files under ~/.dsh/sessions. DSH_HOME changes that base folder. A new watch starts at the end of existing files. It does not import all your old sessions.
Leave the plugin's optional ingest and summarize settings off with this setup. The worker already records and summarizes the sessions.
Check it
npx memindex doctor
Ask DSH to search saved memory. Then complete a small task with a tool call. After MemIndex processes it, search for that work.
If setup reports incomplete transcript capture, do not assume new work is being saved. Check its warning, then rerun the install command. MEMINDEX_TRANSCRIPTS_ENABLED=false turns off automatic capture, even when search works.
Existing session watches that you configured yourself are preserved. See Troubleshooting.
