Plans and hosting

Hosting and plans

Keep memory on your computer, or let MemIndex hosting keep it on our server so all your machines share one memory. Hosting setup steps are in your account once you sign in.

On your computer

Your computer runs MemIndex and stores the memory. You choose the model service that writes your notes. That service may charge you or count the work against your plan.

You can browse, search, export, and manage the memory you keep. Start with installation.

Managed hosting

The pricing page lists Lite, Plus, and Power for one person, and Team for several people, priced per seat. Installing MemIndex does not create a hosted account. To buy a plan, pick it on the pricing page and enter your email. We send you a one-time link; opening it creates your account and signs you in (there is no password), and you come straight back to pay. Your plan switches on in that account as soon as the payment goes through: after paying you come back to your account, which shows the plan as on (or, for a few seconds while the payment is confirmed, that it is setting up your plan, and it checks again by itself). We also email you a short note that it is ready. If you close the tab right after paying, sign in again later and the plan is there. The note never contains a key. In your account, make a key (it is shown once) and copy your project id from the same page. Then:

  1. Run npx memindex@latest install --runtime server --server-url https://memindex.ai.
  2. Add MEMINDEX_SERVER_API_KEY (your key) and MEMINDEX_SERVER_PROJECT_ID (your project id) to ~/.memindex/settings.json.
  3. Start a new agent session. Your sessions are saved to the server, and search reads from it.

Pi, DeepSeek Harness, OMP and OpenClaw keep memory on your computer only; they do not connect to hosting yet.

MemIndex support for Claude Cowork is coming. See Cowork for its availability note.

Notes, limits and what extra costs

A note is one short note MemIndex writes from your agent's work, including the summary at the end of a session. Notes you save by hand do not count, and neither does work that ends with nothing worth keeping.

Plan Notes each month About a day At the limit
Lite 10,000 330 Pauses until your next billing day
Plus 25,000 830 Pauses until your next billing day
Power 50,000 1,670 Keeps going; extra notes are billed at cost, up to your cap
Team 10,000 a seat, pooled 330 a seat Keeps going; extra notes are billed at cost, up to your cap
  • When it starts again. Each month on your billing day, the day of the month your plan renews. It is not the calendar month. Your account page shows the date and how much you have used.
  • Pausing loses nothing. Your activity is still saved while notes are paused. On your next billing day, or when you upgrade, the notes are written afterwards, a few at a time, and count against the new period.
  • At cost means exactly what the note-writing model charged us for those notes, with no markup. Hosting, storage and search are already in the plan price. The pricing page shows the average cost of a thousand notes over the last 30 days, once there is enough real use to say.
  • The spending cap. Power and Team have a monthly cap on extra notes. It starts at $50 and an owner can change it on the account page. At the cap, notes pause until the next period and we email you. We also email you at 80% and at 100% of your notes.
  • Not available yet: single sign-on, SCIM and SOC 2.
  • Health information. Do not send patients' health information to MemIndex hosting. We do not sign business associate agreements.

Recovery codes and changing your email

You sign in with a one-time link we email you, so your email is the key to your account. Recovery codes are the way back in if you ever lose it.

  • Save your recovery codes. In your account, open Recovery and email and make your codes. You get ten, shown only once. Keep them somewhere that is not your email, such as a password manager, then choose I have saved these. An owner saves codes before making keys, inviting an admin, or changing who owns the account.
  • Sign in with a code. On the sign-in page, choose Can't use your email?, then enter your address and one code. Each code works once. We email your address each time a code is used and say how many are left. Making a new set replaces the old one.
  • Change your email. On Recovery and email, enter the new address. We email a link to the new address, and nothing changes until you open it within 15 minutes. We also tell your current address right away, and you can cancel the change from the same page until the link is opened. Once it is opened, your account, your keys and your bill move to the new address, every sign-in the old address had ends, and we tell the old address it happened.
  • Hand the account to someone else. On People, an owner chooses Owner next to an admin. They become an owner only when they accept from their own sign-in. Then the first owner can step down or leave. An account always keeps at least one owner.

If you lose your email and your codes, another owner of your account can help. Otherwise write to [email protected]: we can stop billing and refund, but we cannot open an account for someone who cannot show it is theirs.

Connect an app by signing in

Apps that can sign in to an MCP server connect to MemIndex hosting through your account, so you never paste a key into them. Anyone on your team can connect an app, not only the people who run the account.

In Claude Code:

claude mcp add --transport http memindex https://memindex.ai/v1/mcp

Then open /mcp inside Claude Code, choose memindex, and choose Authenticate.

In Codex:

codex mcp add memindex --url https://memindex.ai/v1/mcp
codex mcp login memindex

Either way, the app opens a MemIndex page in your browser. The page names the app and shows where it will send you back to. Then:

  1. Choose Continue with your MemIndex account.
  2. If you are not signed in yet, enter your email address. We email you a one-time link. Open it in the same browser, and you come back to the same page. You can also sign in with a recovery code or your company login.
  3. Check the app, the account it may read, and where it goes back to, and choose Approve. If the page says the app sends you back to a website, approve only if you started connecting from that website yourself: anyone can give an app any name.

Finish in the browser where you started: the browser the app opened. If you open the emailed link somewhere else, like your phone, nothing is connected there. Go back to the app and start again.

The app can then search and read your memory. It cannot save, change, or delete anything, and it never sees a key. It stays signed in until you take it away, or until you leave the team, as long as you use it at least once a month.

If you would rather use a key, choose Use a key instead on the same page and type a key you made on the Keys page of your account.

Take an app away

In your account, the Keys page lists each connected app by name, with the person who connected it. An owner or admin chooses Revoke next to it. An app also stops when the person who connected it leaves the team. The app is signed out at once, and the next time it asks for your memory it is told to sign in again.

You can also do it with a key you already have. Each connected app is one key in your key list whose id starts with oauth-:

curl -s https://memindex.ai/v1/keys -H "Authorization: Bearer $MEMINDEX_SERVER_API_KEY"
curl -s -X DELETE https://memindex.ai/v1/keys/oauth-... -H "Authorization: Bearer $MEMINDEX_SERVER_API_KEY"

An app connected with a key goes when that key is revoked, too.
