Who we are
MemIndex is made and run by Imogen Labs. For anything about your data, write to [email protected].
On your own machine
When you install MemIndex, it watches your coding agent work and writes short notes about what changed, what was decided and what failed. Those notes, your sessions and your prompts are stored on your computer, in the .memindex folder in your home folder. We never receive them.
To write a note, MemIndex sends your agent’s activity to the model service you chose during setup, such as Anthropic’s Claude through your own sign-in. That service handles it under its own terms.
Usage statistics are off unless you turn them on. If you do, MemIndex sends the version, your operating system and counts such as how many notes you have. It never sends notes, prompts, code or file names.
When you use hosting
Hosting keeps one memory on our server so all your machines and agents share it. We keep:
- the email address your account was made with, to sign you in and contact you about your account;
- your hosting key, stored only as a fingerprint we can check it against, never as the key itself;
- what your agents send while they work: your prompts, tool activity and session summaries;
- the name of the git branch an agent was working on, so search can favor it. You can turn this off in settings (
MEMINDEX_SEND_BRANCH_TO_HOSTING), and then no branch name leaves your machine; - the notes written from that activity, and the searches you run;
- usage counts for your plan, and a log of which key read which notes, for your security.
We use this only to run MemIndex for you. We do not sell it, show you ads, or use your notes to train models. Each customer’s memory is kept apart from every other customer’s, and that separation is tested on every change.
Services that handle hosted data
- Amazon Web Services, in Virginia, USA, runs the server, stores your memory on an encrypted disk and keeps nightly encrypted backups.
- Hetzner, in Ashburn, USA, runs the gateway your connection passes through on its way to the server.
- OpenAI writes your notes from your agents’ activity. Requests reach it through OpenRouter.
- Resend sends the sign-in links and account notices. They never contain a key.
- Lemon Squeezy sells the plan as merchant of record and handles your payment. We never see your card.
How long we keep it
Your hosted memory stays for as long as your plan is active. When a plan ends, we delete its memory 30 days later. Backups are deleted 30 days after they are made, so nothing remains more than 60 days after your plan ends. You can delete everything sooner yourself, as described below.
See it, take it, delete it
- The local viewer shows every session and note MemIndex keeps.
- Private tags keep anything you mark out of memory entirely.
- You can delete one note or a whole project at any time.
- You can export all of your memory, or one project, to a file.
- You can delete your hosted account and its memory at once, from your account page.
Wherever you live, you can also ask us to show you, correct, export or delete what we hold about you. Write to [email protected] and we will answer within 30 days.
Keep your key private
Your hosting key and private MCP link open your memory to whoever holds them. Keep them out of public code, screenshots and shared documents, and add the link only to clients you trust.
This website
memindex.ai sets no cookies. To count visits we use Umami, an analytics tool we run ourselves. It records the page, the link tags below, the site you came from, and your browser, system and country. It stores no cookie and no IP address, does not follow you to other sites, and respects your browser’s Do Not Track setting.
Links we share can carry tags that say where they were posted, such as utm_source=youtube. Your browser keeps those tags until you close the tab. If you start a trial, they go to Lemon Squeezy with your order, so we can tell which of our posts brought customers. They say where the link was posted, nothing about you.
Children
MemIndex is a tool for software work and is not meant for anyone under 16.
Changes
When this policy changes, we update this page and its date. If a change affects hosted customers, we email them before it takes effect. The rules for using MemIndex are in the terms.
